Updating ps3 via storage device
You can go out and select your own hard drive instead of being forced to buy an official first-party hard-disk accessory. However, giving console owners that freedom means that aspiring upgraders will need to know how to select the right hard-drive upgrade and the proper installation technique.EDIT: Not in ps3 error codes and solutions and happens at 99% installed on the USB update and around 70% updating from internet This is all I could find on the issue: https://playstation.com/a...tail/a_id/3944 I'm pretty sure it's because some files on your PS3 are corrupted though.Whether that's through the PS3 freezing when something saves or what, I do not know. Also, this site has information on safe mode and rebuilding the database: https://playstation.com/a...fe-mode-on-ps3 When the PS3 is turned off, hold down until you hear two beeps and then a quick double beep. Only problem is I lost my USB cord charger and have to go find another one so my controllers can connect to my PS3 again... Edit: After trying the safe mode system update the update stops at 99% and doesn't do anything...I remember having this problem before but cant't remember what I did to fix it... I've tried updating it multiple times via Internet and Storage Device and it's not working on either... You just need a guide, step by step guide to repair this error.
For example, you may be required to do this after you do a hard drive upgrade since the system software is saved to the hard drive.
Since the new blank drive will not contain system software, using this technique should allow for a manual system software update.
The first step to replacing the hard disk is going to the store or visiting an online retailer to pick up a new hard disk.
The PS3 is compatible with just about any 2.5-inch SATA notebook hard disk. The physical size of the hard disk is important because it has to fit the PS3's 2.5-inch drive tray.
All that available hard-disk space quickly disappears once you start downloading games, demos, and HD videos.
